A Bradford night out; we visit the bars of Sunbridgewells

You just can’t beat a Bradford night out, especially now that the city is one of the UK’s fastest growing places of interest. According to tourism board Visit Bradford, our beloved municipal is THE place to go for Heritage, Culture, Festivals, Events, Food and Drink. A relaxing stay in one of the district’s peaceful villages will no doubt be a welcome reprieve. Alternatively, a weekend city break will ensure you get to take advantage of Bradford’s reinvigorated nightlife, including the fabulous and more recently developed, the underground Victorian tunnels.

If an offbeat and unforgettable Bradford night out is what you’re craving, look no further than the many taprooms, bistros and historical nooks and crannies of the impressive Sunbridgewells complex.

Wallers Brewery

Situated in the main atrium of the tunnels, Wallers Brewery is one of the first bars you will come to. Decorated with timeless mementoes and reminders of years gone by, Wallers Brewery provides both a comfortable atmosphere for an afternoon coffee and a socially cool ambience for after work drinks. The bar also hosts many exciting events with the next one being The Little Fat Black Pussy Cat Club on Sunday the 4th of March. With free entry, retro DJ’s and dancing 2:30 pm - 9 pm, you won’t be disappointed.

Sunbridge Sports Bar

With all the right games plus all the vital info, you can also enjoy great weekend offers at the Sunbridge Sports Bar such as 4 Tequila’s for £10 and a pint of Bud Light for just £2.95. There’s Sports TV for the boys and Prosecco Pong for the girls (or you can mix it up, we don’t mind) so suffice to say the Sunbridge Sports Bar has something for everyone.

Situated in the heart of the tunnels, Alibi is as unique as its surroundings and it provides the perfect atmosphere for indulging in a cushy cocktail or two. With a drinks menu created from the very best of premium products, their classic aperitifs and elegant wine list go hand in hand with their very artisan, culinary approach. Alibi’s menu features an array of rustic favourites such as the humble hand-stretched pizza, tapas dishes and antipasti sharing platters.

The 1920’s Club

Do we have any fans of The Great Gatsby or Peaky Blinders in the house? Celebrating the decadent Art Deco period, The 1920’s Club features hand painted walls and an extensive list of cocktails, mocktails and more. Independently owned, the club also caters for bookings, ensuring a relaxed and VIP affair.

The Gin Bar

The Gin Bar is located on the second floor from the main staircase and offers a very mellow, laid back gin experience. Warm, low lighting sets the scene for this highly popular bar and their extensive drinks menu includes the likes of Ableforth's award-winning Bathtub Gin, Citadel and Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin, the Lavender addition. I guess that just leaves one question to be answered. Do you want ice and a slice with that?

Sunbridge Lounge

Onto the Sunbridge Lounge Tapas Bar now and this trendy little foodie place is the very first venue of taste guru’s, Craft Cafe. Offering a varied world menu made with locally sourced produce alongside a broad range of international craft beers, the delightful creations of Sunbridge Lounge are available to try between 12-4 and 5-9 every day and between 12-6 on Sundays. We can highly recommend the shrimp tacos!

The Rose & Crown

Set across three floors of sumptuous wood panelling and time-honoured brickwork, The Rose and Crown is warm, welcoming and hugely adored by customers, it has been described as a hidden gem. A traditional tavern with real ales, draught lager, cider and a huge selection of spirits, soft drinks and wines, did you also know that The Rose and Crown boasts the oldest sign in Bradford? And as word would have it, it’s not just the bottled spirits that frequent this popular city centre pub…
